Paige had her first week of high school Homecoming festivities. Freshman or not, she showed her Grizzly pride! Like all schools, Thunder Ridge High has a spirit week to celebrate. The night before the game, TRHS has a big bonfire like Texas A&M to rally the fans. Friday is Field Day where all the classes compete against each other to claim title and reign as the best class. Sophomores won this year.
Saturday was the dance. Here is where the story gets good . . .
Andrew and Paige both went to Homecoming. Andrew wanted to go with a group of friends and work out the dance moves he and his buddies have been perfecting. The french kids showed him this "techno" style of dancing and he's been practicing. They have the whole night planned out including the big splurge dinner at Taco Bell beforehand. Countdown . . .
Two weeks before the dance, Andrew gets word that a girl in his class wants her to ask him. He informs the friends of the girl, he is going alone this year, to which they reply, but she really wants to go with you. He thinks about it and decides to ask her. She accepts.
When she hears about the dinner, however, she begins to reconsider her decision and tells Andrew that he needs to go with her group to the nice restaurant they have chosen. The big spender tells her to go with his group.
The girl decides that they will go separately to dinner and meet up at the dance. Andrew agrees and invites her to their after party. Whoops! Her group also has an after party. She's not missing that! So, she decides they will meet at the dance where he can buy her ticket and then they will say goodbye.
The night before the dance, I guess Andrew begins to realize the arrangements for his date. He will buy a ticket for a girl he will not spend any time with before, during or after . . . and so why is he going with her? He bails, before any money is spent.
Saturday - we get a phone call from the Dad.
It all worked out in the end and the two parted ways amicably before the dance. She got her nice dinner. He ate Taco Bell and danced "techno." They both went to their respective after party's. All was well and Daren and I were laughing at the whole thing! Here he is . . .alone.

This was Paige's first homecoming. She is 14 - the legal age for dancing, but not for dating in this household. Paige got asked twice. She told US that she told them she couldn't date. Here she is getting ready. That is my niece Linsey, who is living with us now, helping her get ready.

Not surprised at all that Paige got asked twice...I'm sure she's going to break many hearts and have many waiting until August 31, 2009! She is BEAUTIFUL--and fun to boot.
I love Andrew's "almost" date. Way to get out of that one! He cracks me up. You need to film the techno dance and post! The Hansen's want to see!
P.S. August 31, 2009 will also mark the day I am officially on the old side of still being considered young...well for me at least...
How fun!! Andrew and Paige look great, and sounds like they had a lot of fun with their friends. I'm still in unbelief at how fast they are growing up. Was that really Paige?!? She's gorgeous!
I love seeing Maddi after all the big kids have left...at least she's got a few years left at home!
How FUN !!! You are at a whole different stage of life now with a college kid, a dating (or nearly so!) guy, and the swan emerging young woman, and darling Maddi bringing up the rear ! I asked her today if her room was neat and tidy now that Paige had her own headquarters. There was a long-g-g-g pause, and then she said :"Oh Grandma, of course not ! Paige is the tidy one !"
Your house is so fun! Paige looks so pretty and grown up - love the curly hair, and I want to know what "the Dad" said during that phone call! Sounds like a fun night!

That cracks me up about Andrews "date" what's up with that girl trying to call ALL the shots. He told her he wanted to go alone, Paige looked very pretty. All the things I have to look forward to. Yikes :)
