Maddi's birthday was Sunday. She turned the ripe old age of ten! She was excited because now she's in the "double digits," as she put it. It was a low-key birthday this year; just the family and my attempt at an ipod cake.
Maddi is the perfect caboose for our family. She holds her own and never gets lost in the shuffle.
In keeping with birthday tradition, and despite my being late, here are the ten reasons why we love her and honor her. (Feel free to add your own . . .)
1. She is lots of fun. She's always up for a game of any kind - outside or in. She'll be the first to jump in a family game of soccer or "Sorry."
2. She is super creative. This girl can dream up something to do with or without toys. She is a gifted artist and whoowee can she dance!
3. She is very loving. She loves her family and has a sixth sense and keen sensitivity to the our needs. She freely still gives out lots of hugs and can't even go to sleep at night without at least two rounds of hugs and kisses.
4. She has her own sense of style. At times there is a fine line for me between whether or not I am grateful for this quality.
5. She is a good student and works hard.
6. She is a leader among her friends.
7. She is proud to tell you that she is in the seventh grade reading level now.
8. She makes good choices that reflect her understanding of the gospel.
9. She is honest.
10. She is unselfish and grateful.

She is really looking like her own "self" now, and is not such a little "Collinita" anymore !
She is so kind to Grandpa and me, willing to run and get, willing to teach us the right words for today's vocabulary, and snuggle up when watching a movie.
