Happy Birthday Collin-olios!!!
Like the eighth birthday, this is also a big year for Mormon families. This is the year we begin to put the man into the boy. The year when we thrust our young men out of their secular comfort zones and throw them to the various corners of the world "to preach and teach and work like missionaries do!"
For some young men, this process isn't totally accomplished within the alloted two years a mission affords. But, I have no doubt this will not be so for Collin. He's ready and he makes his family proud. He's shown his maturity in the last year in so many ways. He stands for truth and righteousness continually, even if in the past it has meant hanging out with his old, totally uncool parents on many Friday nights. He enthusiastically accepted the challenge from his mission prep professor to read the Book of Mormon in two weeks and completed the challenge. He knew of the importance of this challenge so he prayed for help to understand and gain a testimony while he read. He earned his Duty to God award and completed his stake mission prep course in high school. He has honed his cooking skills this semester at school and hasn't gotten food poisoning once! He has paid every cent toward his schooling and living expenses and lives within his budget better than his parents every month!
Collin will put his papers in this month. We, as his family are so proud of his hard work in school this semester and his personal preparations for his upcoming mission. We are all on pins and needles to find out where he will go to serve. Keep your eyes and ears posted in the coming months . . .

Collie-wah ! Gone are the days of Little Mermaid 20 times in succesion ! Just looking at this reunion pix brings back memories of the little guy in his hospital isolette not so long ago. Now, he is all grown up, very handsome, very smart, and so loving. You were our first, Collin, and have been such a good example to those who have followed. Keep leading ! Grandma D.
I remember setting up the little slide in our family room when Collin was about 2, and we'd all just sit there and watch him play...we were all so enchanted with him, how smart he was, how cute, how clever. He was the first grandchild and nephew, and was somewhat of a novelty.
Now it seems that this phase of his life isn't so different from watching him slide all those years ago. We're all still entranced, watching and waiting for what he does next. He is the first grandchild and nephew and we can't wait to see him take his "first steps". What an example he's being to the rest of the kids!!

Happy Birthday Collin! Jeff and I remember babysitting you while we were in school in Provo. Jeff used to get you so wound up! You loved to play with your "Lou Lou Lamb". I can't believe you are 19 and ready to go on a mission. We love you and can only hope that our own children will turn out as great as you have...!
